I picked up this copy of Asia s/t thinking it might be an older pressing to the one I had. A few interesting variations between the two: my existing one states “Made in USA by DADC”, where the new one says “Mfg by DADC”. The matrix is only different by one number. The new disc has remnants of a foil sticker (A later concept) and a barcode, where my old one does not. It would appear from this, that my copy is an older press from a longbox (which meant the barcode was on the longbox, not the disc). Also, that my old disc has a lower matrix number.
Yes, the barcoded version is slightly louder in peak level, but the non-barcode version has more levels showing in the waveform. There’s not really much of a difference to comment on.
