I picked up a copy of True blue because it was a Japan pressing and I wasn’t sure which pressing I had. Half-off sale, so why not? Turns out my existing copy was a US pressing (SRC-11, which I believe is pretty late). I also noticed that my new japan copy didn’t have the artist or album name on the front cover. Very strange. So with such a different period of creation, it would be worth checking out to see if it got a secret remastering.
Well, the US copy has some slight differences, but not significant. The amplitudes are higher in some places, but in both cases, the album peaks at 100%. Not brickwalled, but definitely normalized.
